Maintenance
In order for your jewelry to maintain its appearance, you must take good care of it. Here are some good maintenance tips:
- Silver jewelry - If you have chosen a piece of jewelry made of sterling silver, it will eventually develop a patina, meaning that the precious metal will take on bumps and scratches and can easily oxidize (become slightly darker) over time. If this happens, you can take a trip to your local jeweler and the piece of jewelry can be easily polished and look like new again.
- Gold-plated jewelry - If you have chosen a gold-plated piece of jewelry, please remember that the jewelry is only plated with gold and the material underneath is sterling silver. The gold-plated color can therefore wear off, however, it depends entirely on how much and how hard you wear the jewelry. We disclaim responsibility for the durability of the gold-plating on your jewelry purchased from us and remind you - to take off the jewelry when washing hands, bathing, using hand sanitizer, and avoid applying perfume or other chemicals directly to the jewelry - then it will keep the color for a longer time.
When the gold-plated surface wears off over time, you can always stop by your local jeweler and ask if they can re-gold-plate it.
- 8 & 14 kt Gold - If you have chosen a piece of jewelry in either 8 or 14 karat, this precious metal is solid, meaning there is no other material underneath, and you cannot wear the color off. However, gold is still susceptible to bumps and scratches, and will eventually develop a little patina. You can always go to your local jeweler and have your piece polished again.
